This is typed up from notes and cleaned up a smidgen. Takes place during Jim's first year at the Academy (or second year, depending on when The Ex was supposed to come in as The XO. I forget what I'd worked out for the timeline. SOZ.)

One of my plans for Rambleverse was that Jim was eventually finagle himself into the Spock/Uhura relationship, mostly by virtue of looking really sad and pathetic after Bones gets transferred back to Earth. It was supposed to be a part of that confluence of events, actually, and as such you may recognize a name from the fic wherein Pike is tapped for babysitting duty.
